A call to the media to visit the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia`s preparation for the operation of the 6th National Election

The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia would like to tour the media on its preparations for the 6th National Election Operation. Therefore, all media outlets registered with the Ethiopian Broadcasting Authority are invited for the visit.

As the election equipment are under high security protection, we recommend you to send us the full name and telephone number of a reporter and a cameraman, as well as the media name via medianebe@gmail.com by Wednesday, September 30, 2020 before 6PM. Professionals with their name listed will only be participating in the tour.

USAID Donates Equipment to Election Board

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has donated 2,626,780,00 Birr worth of equipment, which are essential in Corona virus prevention, to the National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE). Items of the donation includes mouth and nose mask, gloves, sanitizer and thermometer. The National Election Board would like to thank USAID for the support.

Voting Equipment Arrive At NEBE Warehouse

It is to be recalled that the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) has completed the procurement of materials for the upcoming general elections scheduled for August 23, 2012. Accordingly, voter registration materials had arrived at NEBE warehouse previously and now, additional vote casting materials for polling day are arriving at the warehouse.

Election Board Cancels 27 Political Parties

The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia had made a call for political parties that were registered under the previous parties’ licensing regulation to register again under the new law until March 12, 2020. In light of this, the board had written a note to 106 parties that had been certified previously to prove that they meet the requirements of the new law. Accordingly, 76 of the 106 previously certified political parties had submitted the necessary documents and board is checking whether they fulfill requirements of the new law.
